Fourth Perspective

We did the drive-in version of fireworks-watching last night, hoisting our daughter atop the van for a better view while our son huddled in my lap in the front seat.

Nevermind bedtime.

During the fourteen minutes that the fireworks kaboomed in the sky our daughter ahhed over each one.

During the same fourteen minutes, our son whimpered for the noise to stop and begged to be taken home.

We started the engine seconds after the finale.  We owed it to the little guy not having any fun.

Only our daughter listened, looked around and then finally asked, “isn’t it just fireworks halftime?”
