Cousin Connection

I couldn’t tell you the last time my children showered.

Or made peace with the fuzz on their teeth.

Which is what happens, I guess, when two kids soak to the likes of raisins in a pool for three days.

And forget to pack their toothbrushes.

Things sort of slip.

But not the priorities.

Like sardine-ing with the cousins in a hot tub.

And realizing that even though one is fun…

Two is something special.

Two is a buddy…

A partner to race…

face first…

and finally finish.

Two is finding fulfillment in organizing every inner tube.

Two is, well, three.

And then two again.

Because it isn’t the size of the crowd that matters.

It’s the size of the love in the crowd.
