Radio-Station Educated

We’d had the radio on for a half a song before the music faded and the advertisements began.

“Why do they have to do that?” my daughter asked. She pointed to the speakers and winced at the over-animated voice hurrying to sell us something in thirty seconds.

My son looked as though he might burst with…

Wisdom?

“It’s in case,” he informed, “in case someone has to pee. That way they don’t have to fast forward anything because it’s already on commercials.”

We smiled into our sleeves.

Potty breaks. Yes. That must be it.
