The New Prayer

He did not lift his eyes when we passed. Did not touch the over-sized pizza slice in front of him, though the limp tip dangled against the table. Rather, his baseball-hatted head remained bowed, his shoulders rounded, and the cacophony of the Costco food court completely unnoticed.

I was moved. And I gulped at his posture—at this someone giving pause for pizza. Here.

Until in a final peek I realized…

Realized that texting looks a lot like prayer.
